I applied through a consultant for the masters quota and got a reject (I applied on the 4th of april) they have considered it as regular because the package did not contain a course completion letter (i will be graduating this may 4th, so all i could get was just unofficial transcripts.) Now the school agreed to give me a course completion letter.

I have a letter from my University showing the 'Expected Graduation Date', I have an official transcript which shows the courses i have taken and i have an EAD card which mentions that i my OPT starts June 1st.

Even if 1000 of our ~41000 members contribute 100 dollars each, we can host two more events like this.
It makes sense to ask help from outside of the organization only when our internal resources are all exhausted. However, sadly, most of us do not want to even contribute for the good cause. :o
We can also ask some big companies like Microsoft who back legal immigration extensively to help us financially right?

I agree. Some idiots are just being irritating pain in the b***.
Someone gave me a "red" with totally unjustified reason. Initially I was upset - and I complained about it - found that he gave me more reds with similar comment from multiple userids (because one userid can't give multiple green/red to the same post). And this guy is doing at weird times ..like 5 in the morning (so psyco is the right description ... now I am sure he is going to given couple of reds to me :D )
After rethinking - now I don't care much about reds - someone is just pissed off, jealous or having fun ... red might make us (and our posts) look less reliable ... however I decided to keep my blood-pressure low and psyco's high :D ..so go ahead psyco - add more reds !!

This ain't nothing. Wait until the second wave of labor substituted EB3 applicants port their case from EB3 to EB2 or EB1 .Talk about a double whammy. Except a bigger hit in the next year or two when most of the porting succeeds.
Labor substitution may be legal but it is unethical. When everything depends on when you join the queue, how can one cut the line?
Whereas EB3 to EB2 porting is both legal and ethical. When you have a EB3 applicant that is waiting in line for 8 years, he/she had already gathered that much experience based on his long wait. Also, if you look at EB2, it is one of the highly abused category. The EB3 applicant who started in 2001 has joined the line half a decade before the one with 2006 Eb2 PD. One can't really accuse him/her for cutting the line just like one can about substitutes! If the EB3 porting case deserves merit, then I strongly support it!
My intention is not to to start a fight. But we need to see the true picture. Without acknowledging the problem how can we fix it?
Bottom line, GC abuses need to stop and we should fight for it as much as we fight for our rights to get GC!

I would like to start this thread for the benefit of people who do not have a straightforward immigration history. In a nutshell, I hope in the future this thread will serve to provide information and advice on
Out of Status issues - Inconsistency with what's stamped in the passport and what you're actually doing
Unlawful Stay - Stay beyond the date in the I-94 card
The main focus will be on what these things can do to your i) AOS/CP filings ;and/or ii) future non-immigrant visas.
I came to this country because of a twist of fate and had zero knowledge of the immigration laws here. Through the school of hard knocks, I have gained considerable knowledge about this convoluted process that affects us all and hopefully what I learnt will be of use to other people in the same boat.
A special mention goes out to "unitednations" for his skill and knowledge about various issues. Thanks buddy, you're a huge asset to all of us.

Well said ! $20 is not a lot but if you are first time contributor, the mind set just changes after you contribute and you become part of this organisation. And that is what we want - active participation !
We have reached 40%. To reach 50% we need $6000 more. If more people can contribute, we can reach this in no time.
The core and a lot of serious members have already contributed.
There are 2 mind sets of people on this forum:
1) I have contributed $500+ , I do not need to contribute $20 more, In anycase what is my
$20 going to do?.
2) I have never contributed, but I am ashamed of making my first contribution of only $20.
(Although that is what I am comfortable doing at this time.)
Both the above mindsets are wrong because If we have 7000+ members, out of which say 1000 have already contributed, that leaves us with 6000 members. If 6000 members contribute $1 each, we are at $ 6000 - 50% met.
Now all are not going to do it.
So you see $20 is still a good amount to start.

We understand retrogression is due to non availability of visa but we will have some comfort factor, if we know un-used visa# that may move PD...
Anybody have any statisctics on unused visa# for last couple of years?
