USCIS does not give how many Visas they have used and how many are left
like how many unused have gone to EB3 or Eb2 etc
if its Vertical or horizontal visa distribution
they have been some Law Suits on them to give the data

i think v r f'ed up big time; part of the problem was setting our hopes higher.
on another note, if some ppl call this a rumor, I would say this is US and "almost all" rumors in US are true.
I just hope its not true.
Vldrao is not a god. His assumptions are based on the facts from USCIS data, Do you know that 22k visas were not issued. If yes,quote that. Nobody knows and all are playing guessing game. Leave him alone.

As gc_check explained, all EB2 with PD<2007/7 will get the green card 2 years earlier if this can be fixed. I do not understand why IV can not discuss it with USCIS.

Hello,
I'm currently holding H4 Visa and I'm completing my MS degree in June 2007. Am I eligible to apply in Advanced degree (or Master's degree) quota for H1 visa once I graduate?
I want to know if one has to be in F1 visa to apply in this category? Please help...

This is not a legal advice to anybody, just explaining who I did!! Risk is yours!!.
On my passport "Surname" was empty. Complete name was under "Given Name". Assuming on passport:
Given Name: �Harjinder Singh"
Surname: ......empty....
Just went to Embassy of India - Washington DC. Filled a "Miscellaneous form" and under purpose pick OTHERS and write �Name Split". Then write on form what you want.
I requested " Split my name as Given Name = Harjinder; Surname = Singh".
Attach a photo on form, pay 20$ fee and collect a corrected passport next day.
As long as you are not changing the name this should be fine otherwise what will be in advertisement " My name is Harjinder Singh and I want to declare my new name is Harjinder Singh???" unless changing a name it seem simple 2 day task via Miscellaneous form.
Rest EAD / 485 I don't know because I am not at that stage yet.

Visa number is only "assigned" after all kinds of review and background checks are done. This is by far the last step in the wayward journey.
In other words your LPR status is registered only when the visa number is received from DoS. So pre-assigning of visa numbers while review continuing in the background is simply not possible !
Bottom line is getting VISA number assigned to file when current, and let them complete review at later time, once File has VISA number then its ready to for approval.

Do you think the visa numbers are over and that is the reason why they cannot allot visa number to you?
My file is also in local office for the past 4 years and waiting for approval and not able to get any information at all. They keep saying extended back ground check that check and they lose files and it keeps on going with endless wait.

First of all, welcome to IV!
So far there is no information about how many H1B applications have been filed under US Master's or higher quota, but there is a rumor that it may reach as early as this week (I can't provide you a source for this rumor).
There is no tracking facility provided by the USCIS, however they will issue new release if the cap is reached. Note that the USCIS has to go through all the petitions they received so far to estimate how many of those applications fall into this specific category. As of now, the USCIS is accepting new H1B petitions falling under master's quota.
You may want to re-enroll as a student at one of the universities after June'08 to maintain your status, if you can not file for new H1B this fiscal year.

But seriously growing your own vegetables is a fun activity. I have not done groceries in the last few months (exceptions being junk fast food, yoghurt etc). We grow vegetables all year round. In fact we have excess of most vegetables we grow. Try it, its a lot of fun!
And good luck to all EB2 and EB3 folks - we've seen good EB2 movement and we hope we'll see more movements in both EB2 and EB3 in the days to come. Till then, Happy gardening!!

I grow different kind in my backyard. It all depends on the size of your backyard and which zone you live in states. I live in virginia. By this August end /september first week summer crop will end. I grow tomatoes(30 plants), Mint, snake guard, water melons (15 plants), cantaloupes(10 plants), carrots, okra, spinach , chillis. Its fun and hard work too. You need to dig the soil, mix with top soil or garden soil and cultivate it. Every week fertilize it. This is my first year gardening. I have around 3000 square ft of back yard. i do not know what to do with that. I cannot maintain Lawn in back yard. So I decided to grow vegetables.
I am eagerly waiting for my fall garden..I am planning to grow tulips,beets,cilantro,carrots,potato,peas etc., If I can get same space for garden In India and work place just 3 miles from home , I can happily go back to India.
