His only aim to continue Iraq war for 4 more years, and if possible, another four more years. They DON'T support same sex marriages. Remember! they are conservatives for God's sake. Republican party is good for oil companies and big corporates. For normal people like us, and specially for an immigration community, it would be an irreversible damage.

It is not good disparaging the countries needing TV by calling them idiotic and asking for boycott etc. Please know that you are living in a country (USA) which is far worse than those "idiotic" countries in this respect since 2003. US needs C1 visa for transiting through its airports even when you have a valid VISA stamp in your passport to a destination country and you need to fill eqaully gruelling application (DS 156). Also you need to carry documents for travel purposes and financial support.

nrk, how long did it take after the status got updated to "Approval Notice Sent" to the cards received by you? I am assuming that "Approval Notice Sent" on 485 is actually mailing the cards out to the applicant. ( That is what happens on 765 (EAD) application all the time).

Just before Christmas, an overwhelming bi-partisan majority attached strong amendment after another to H.R. 4437 before passing this tough immigration enforcement bill AND legal immigration reduction bill. The two bills will then go into a joint Conference Committee of negotiators who will create a compromise bill that goes back to both chambers of Congress for a final vote. It is expected that Senate Judiciary Chairman Arlen Specter (R-PA) will attempt to force backers of tough immigration enforcement to accept amnesty and guestworker programs as the only way that he will allow a crackdown on illegal immigration. Sen. Specter is expected to begin executing his plan this week with the hope of having it all in place for when he anticipates his committee will pass the amnesty/guestworker bill in early February. Based on his sneak efforts in November, also anticipate that Sen. Specter will slip into the bill major increases in permanent green cards. For some reason, Sen. Specter and his staff have come to believe that no matter how outrageous their efforts for creating open borders and flooding American communities with foreign workers that the public won't really pay that much attention to them. (In November, he added 350,000 permanent worker slots EACH YEAR to the Budget Reconciliation bill. My priority date is current this month (Sep. 2010). An InfoPass appointment inquiry on Sep. 3 and a congressional inquiry on Sep. 9 answered that my case is being actively worked on by an immigration officer since Sep. 1. SR on Sep. 10 responded that visa numbers are not available for my case. SR response was dated Sep. 10 � same date when it was initiated. On Sep. 15 my I-485 got approved. And here is the funniest part. I received the I-485 approval notice and the SR response that said �no visa numbers available� on Sep. 20 � both on the same day � by snail mail. What a contradiction? Such are the ways of USCIS. Why do we not want to question them? Would raising this issue with the Ombudsman be of any use? Can this be presented as a proof of a hideously mismanaged government entity?
Let me give you an example and you would understand my point. USCIS Customer Services Directorate received 16 million calls from the public and 300,000 from Members of Congress. Add to it, all other items people do to get attention for their case and think that by sending an email or a phone call from Senator or by a lawyer, the officer will realize his mistake and quickly open the file and approve it. If you look at the responses people post to their inquiries, you would see that most responses are standard. USCIS is not just approving 140K greencards but more than a million greencards, hundreds of thousands of H1 and other visa types, EADs etc...every year. Greencards do not get issued on the day date gets current. It is not a automatic process. There is lot of human work involved and many people do not understand that or spend time understanding it. They would rather waste their time either on useless task of tracking or calling customer service every single day.

Received the physical card and the welcome notice on mail yesterday for self and welcome notice for my wife. Status still under initial review for self and for wife it is under post decision.
Came to US in early 2001
Applied first labor in 2003 and labor went to backlog elimination center
Joined another company in 2005
Started new labor under perm process in 2006
Labor and I-140 approved in 2006
Applied I485 in July 2007
Opened SR on 9/1/2010

not true AP filing is not denied just because you have a valid H1 visa. The two are completely unrelated. Also if you have a valid H1 visa carrying a 485 receipt notice while a good idea is not required at all since you hold a valid H1 visa.

Hi pakrish, similar situation here. My wife's gc has the gender mentioned incorrectly. From what I've researched, we need to file for I-90 and choose option D - correction in green card. There are no fees required as it's a USCIS mistake but the original card needs to be sent with the form.

Jan 18: received a call from the consulate, said the petition number on the application is incorrect, and I need to resubmit the approval notice with fresh DS 156/157 at the Bangalore VFS drop box.
Has anyone else been through the same situation?
I checked a copy of the original DS-156/157, and there was no place to enter receipt number. The only place I could see was where the VFS pre-screening guys enter this number manually (first page DS 156 top right corner).
If this is due to their mistake, I will be very angry and will convey this to the consulate general.

You are wrong. Even with valid H visa you need TV for UK. My wife had valid H4 visa in passport during her last visit to India and she had to return home from the airport and pay extra $ 250 and travel next day via Paris.
According to check in agent per UK rules even if you have a valid visa but have not travelled intyernationally within last 12 months you need TV.
So its not just for ppl who have AP or expired visa, thoise who have valid H visas but havent travelled out in last 12 months also need it.
For those in South ( Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana) best way to go to India is new Emirates direct flight between Houston and Dubai and then onward to India.
I have had 3-4 friends fly this route since they started flying in November 2007 and they have nothing but praise for everything. These guys have excellent food and entertainment and no transit visa hassels plus duty free sopping in Dubai is good.
I think in your case the check in agent screwed up, You should sue the airlines for the hassels.
I know many people who have travelled via UK , while having stamped h1/h4,b1/b2. 12 months limit is crap :-)

But there is a possibility that EB2I has not yet retrogressed (inspite of heavy porting) because USCIS knows EB1C 12000 will flow to EB2 right. In that case we may not see movement of dates in par with 12000 spillover.
Maybe I am pessimistic.
In all calculations, it is mentioned that porting at max could be 6k/year. How did we come up with this number? Any proof or just a guess?
