We need to acknowledge her support and do something to convey our happiness/gratitude over her reaction to this mess.

Before we ask Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren for any further help/support, don't you guys think it will be appropriate to first thank her in some kind of noble way? Any ideas?

I personally think (at least to begin with) a letter expressing gratitude for and our faith in her efforts would be a nice gesture.:)

I do agree with some of your points. We could do with a marketing consultant for the website, etc
Many on core are working almost all their waking hours, and simply don't have time.

But you know what the funny thing is? No one is willing to donate for these items.
We are even $28,000 short for critical things like Advocacy days.
People couldn't even collect a few thousand dollars for advertising on a single website about IV.
We don't have a paid sales person or PR person.
Most people aren't aware of realities.
    .

Can i volunteer to do website and website related PR work? :)
StarSun says i need to come to DC and meet everyone to build trust before i can be trusted to touch the website ...is there an easier way....can i meet everyone on webcam? lol

Since the Advocacy days is just a week or 2 away...maybe IV can contact the "most often visitors" in the past month who are not donors and request them to donate. I know it seems weird to ask for donations to help those who are benefiting....but every non-profit organisation does it....its a good fund raising technique. No reason to feel its beneath IV to ask its own members to donate...i say go ahead of that and stick posters in Indian stores asking for donation but thats just my opinion ;)

    Hi Chintu25,

You are doing something which is really helpful for the folks out here. Thank you for that.

Most people are not willing to share the knowledge they learnt.

So i would request you not to get carried away by few folks who are asking stupid questions like post your transactions or tell us how much u made etc...
What do they expect you to post your SSN and W2 or what :D

God !!! even if someone comes forward to help everyone eyes them with a suspicion......

Just keep up the good work you have been doing !!!

    Thanks

I will elaborate. EB2 was current untill September 30th 2005. So where does the 2003 "screeching blah blah" come into effect?

Besides ike I have posted countless times...there were only 2000+ approvals for Labor certifications for India between march2005 and october 2005

and only 7000 labor certifications for India between march 2005 and december 2005.

These include a number of labor certifications for other worker categories. I myself saw at least 500 pipefitters and welders and joiners whose labor certification had been approved from Louisiana (maybe cos of katrina)

so if the priority dates have to move for EB2 they will move to jan 2006 (like the chinese have) or remain at 2004

Perhaps can you start studying bulletins from January 1999 once again please? And I would request you to gather up "major events", "Major law/system related changes" from year 2001 to 2006. Perhaps, yes then you and I will be on the same board.

Watch your language pal.FYI I am highly educated, and that is reflected in my thoughts and my words, not to mention my motive to discredit ideas that will not fly. Also, you need to work on your language construction skills and English, and then may be you can come up with ideas benefit a community such as IV.
I don't think you are highly educated and having refined thought. You don't know how to behave in a forum. For your information I hold the highest degree offered by any university (Ph.D). I hope you know what is Ph.D. Please get out of this thread. We do not need thoughtless creatures. Do not reply to this and be away from this forum.

I gave you a genuine idea to go and meet your lawmaker. You ignored that.

Why can't you speak for yourself and stand on your own feet. Are you illegal in this country?
If you still want to do more, then contact IV and volunteer with them or help them. Do not try and become someone's agent to increase their business.

What the point of meeting a law maker, exchange pleasantries? They aren't going to write a Bill because 1 person said so.
Read my post again, I am legal, EB2 India I-140 approved.
Repeat, Not associated with any lawyer or party.
I am trying to get people to join together - but you can't see that.

Wow! Lots of advices and opinions. Meanwhile the housing slump is expected to continue well into 2010. I remember many people on this board challenging me last year 'how do you know it will go down', despite me posting the supporting data and the trend. It has gone down and will keep going down until it becomes cheap/affordable. Maybe 2000 price levels?

    http://uk.reuters.com/article/marketsNewsUS/idUKN2265655120090122?pageNumber=1

Yes, that is what the trend look like. There is probably another 5-10% fall in the works. Perhaps even more. I agree with you on that.

However, the million dollar question is how do you know the prices have actually bottomed one? Won't you go ahead and buy if its affordable, instead of wasting precious years which shorten the career span and deferring your decision? Its almost like deciding when to have your first child...well..almost. There is never really a good time, is there?

By affordable, I mean its around 'x' times your (dual) income, you have your green card and you are prepared to live in the US for next 5 years at least (even if there is any family emergency, you don't have any compulsion to sell off your assets and move to India for good). Now, 'x' may mean different for different people but generally people seem to agree x = 3. And I also agree with you that it might happen that american housing is always affordable. Yes, it might but for most middle class in SFO Bay area, when x was 7-10, it wasn't affordable at all!

I completely oppose folks like Slumdog doing something terribly rash (no gc, no prospect of gc within a year, single income with a baby, baby having some health issues and to top it all the burden of a heavy mortgage on the shoulders, god, I think his situation is simply awful...) but the way I read it is that these indeterminate immigration waits are making people throw caution to the winds.

And I don't agree with folks who feel that buying your house is like renting it out simply because it is mortgaged. There is big difference, eventually its get all paid off and you start actually owning it. Secondly, for a lot of people that they can sell it during their retirement and use the sale proceeds to cover the retirement life. There is very good chance real estate would have appreciated over long term. Of course, you are just interested in 'flipping' you are asking for big trouble.

    There are too many assumptions here. How I see this situation is;
EB3 I will not move significantly unless and until oversubscribed EB2s become current. Even then, it cannot be taken as granted because the demand of EB2s can take all the spill over and be current without spilling to EB3. USCIS will eventually make the change once they see that EB3 has significant retrogression and there is a lot of noise made about it.

The solution I see is; we can make a valid presentation showing the effects of this spillover change in the long run and how EB3s will be affected seriously.

If DOS continues with this interpretation of spillover then there is a very small (tiny) window coming up in third quarter of FY 2010 (Apr'2010) where we might see some spillover to EB3. Here is how:

Currently there are total 4050 (EB1) + 74932 (EB2) = 78982. These are mostly pre-adjudicated and waiting for VISA numbers.

Total allocation for new FY is 140K out of which 40K (28.6%) will go to EB3. So EB1 and EB2 will have 100K left but their total demand is only 78982. So these 21K numbers will be left which will be used for new applications recieved under EB2 category.

When PD for EB2-I/C moves forward, there will be more applications coming in because many EB2-I/C people have their labor approved and they are waiting to file their I-485. However, when these new applications comes in, they are NOT processed yet and their background check is not clear yet. So even if visa numbers are available for them, they are not ready to be approved.

So at this time we poor EB3 people can hope some mercy from DOS and we hope that DOS might spill those remaining 21K numbers to EB3 so we don't waste any numbers while USCIS is adjudicating those newly recd applications under EB2.

If this 21K spillover happens then we EB3-I have to hope for another mercy from DOS that they give these 21K spillover numbers strictly based on Priority dates in EB3 and not based on EB3-ROW first and then EB3-C and then EB3-M/P and then EB3-I. We expect DOS to give these spillover based on PD and not based on country of chargeability. If that happens then all these numbers will go to EB3-I and we might see it moving to 2003.

And this is a fair expectation from DOS that they give spillover numbers based on PD because that is what they are doing in EB2-. When EB2-ROW numbers goes to EB2-I and EB2-C they go based on PD and hence EB2-I gets most of the numbers.

My two cents. Please post your comments on my theory.

If we all EB3 agrees to above theory then we should seek help from IV to make sure that spillover to EB3 happens based on PD whenever it happens.

    Thanks.
