Britain's got sued: Singer wants £2.5m from Cowell after 'humiliation' before 20m

Tribunal: Emma Amelia Pearl Czikai claims she was left humiliated after judges on Britain's got Talent criticised her performance

A Britain's Got Talent contestant is suing Simon Cowell for £2.5million, claiming she was 'humiliated and degraded' on the hit ITV show.

Emma Amelia Pearl Czikai, 54, says she was mocked by judges Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan when they buzzed her off saying she could not sing.

Cowell said she had a 'horrible singing voice' while Miss Holden added: 'I just can't see how she can't see that she can't sing.'

The former nurse claims she was ridiculed in front of 20million viewers and the trio took away her 'self respect and dignity' in order to boost the programme's ratings and profit.

Miss Czikai is attempting to have her claims heard at an employment tribunal but is being fought by BGT lawyers.

She says her performance, screened in May last year, suffered as a result of numerous medical complaints which left her with constant pain and meant she could not sing in noisy raucous environments.

On the show, a clip of which was subsequently posted on YouTube, a smirking Cowell asked Miss Czikai if she thought she had the talent to win.

Dressed in an intricately embroidered red ball gown, she replied: 'Oh Simon, I'm wonderful. You will go home and think I'm so glad that I met that woman.'

But after only a few notes of Westlife's power ballad You Raise Me Up, Morgan was the first judge to buzz her off, quickly followed by the other two.

Against a backdrop of loud booing, Cowell then said: 'Emma, this is a beautiful song when you're not singing it and I think I speak on behalf of everyone that you have a horrible singing voice.'

When Miss Czikai tried to protest that the backing track was too loud and she wasn't used to the microphone, he snapped: 'It's not loud enough. Emma, Emma, reality check here. It's not the music, it's not the microphone, it's you.'

Miss Czikai also lifted the lid on the way contestants were treated on the show and said it was like 'modern day slavery'.

Not impressed: Judge Simon Cowell looks uninterested by the contestant's display and has had to employ a QC to fight employment tribunal claims as a result

She said contestants were routinely humiliated, bullied into saying things they didn't mean and goaded to become angry and frustrated to make good television.
Meanwhile she saw 'servants' walking through with platters of lobster, seafood and caviar which she was told was for Miss Holden, Morgan and Cowell.

Yesterday at an employment tribunal hearing Miss Czikai, claimed she was the victim of disability discrimination because the talent show had not made adjustments for her such as lowering the music and microphone levels.

Miss Czikai, who is representing herself, also claimed she had suffered 'ongoing harassment' because a later improved performance on spin-off show Britain's Got More Talent was not linked to the original clip on YouTube to prove she could sing.

The pre-tribunal review, which will decide if a full hearing will go ahead, was told that Miss Czikai was seeking £300,000 for her injured feelings, compensation of £1million and loss of earnings of £1.25million - although she said if she were awarded any money it would go to charity.

She told the hearing in central London yesterday: 'I haven't got a horrible singing voice when I sing in a fair environment that meets the needs of my particular disabilities as I proved when I performed live on Britian's Got More Talent.

Attack: Miss Czikai claims her performance was impeded by medical conditions - and that she can actually sing

'Britain's Got Talent have sought to accrue profit to themselves through exploitation of a film clip that they know perpetrates a lie that I cannot sing.'

Breaking down in tears she added: 'This programme makes a select number of rich people very very rich on the backs of the ordinary man and woman in the street through exploitation, humiliation, degradation and a re-emergence of modern-day barbarism with all its inherent cruelty.'

Thomas Linden QC, representing Cowell's TV company Simco, opposed Miss Czikai's right to have a full hearing on the basis that BGT was not an employer and that the staff had no prior knowledge of her disabilities. He also questioned whether posting a clip on the web constituted on-going harassment.

Miss Czikai suffers from fibromyalgia, which is characterised by widespread pain and fatigue, but is not recognised by some doctors. The hearing continues.

Unimpressed: Simon Cowell reacts to Miss Czikai's performance which took place in May last year

It's a no from them: All three judges buzzed the contestant out before she had completed her song

A pole-dancing groom and a diamond-encrusted dress... First episode of Katie & Alex: For Better, For Worse reveals extent of pair's extravagant weddin

By Sarah Bull

Blushing bride: Katie Price tries on the diamond-encrusted full skirted dress she eventually chooses to wear for her wedding blessing to Alex Reid

Katie Price has never been one to do anything by halves, and it seems her new husband Alex Reid is following in her footsteps.

The full extent of the couple's extravagant wedding blessing was revealed in the first episode of their new ITV2 reality show Katie & Alex: For Better, For Worse.

While Alex stripped off and started pole dancing on his stag do, Katie travelled to Paris in search of the perfect wedding dress, and ended up leaving with a diamond-encrusted gown

Sparkly: The sight of Katie in the corset-style dress reduced her mother Amy to tears in the Parisian store

The new series sees the couple preparing for their wedding blessing, following their quickie Las Vegas wedding in February, and things don't get off to a smooth start.

On the first day of wedding planning, Katie and Alex disagree about where they should have the ceremony, with Katie arguing that it would be more romantic in the local church and Alex insisting he is 'turned on' by the thought of having it in the garden of their Sussex home.

However, it's Katie who wins in the end, and it's decided the ceremony will be held at the church down

Busty: The corset-style top struggled to contain Katie's ample assets, but she was happy with the look

And one that didn't make it... Katie tries on a Swan Lake style dress, but mum Amy tells her, 'It doesn't do anything for your boobs'

And while it started off being a low-key affair, the blessing quickly turns into more than just a chance for friends and family to celebrate.

With help from three drag queens from hit West End show Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert, a giant pink stiletto, human statues dressed as gargoyles and a cage, preparations for the wedding reception are made.

But despite the outrageous reception plans, one thing was certain to remain low-key - the food.

Stag on a mission: Alex Reid strips off to start pole dancing at his eventful, and alcohol-filled, stag do

Excited: Alex can't stop smiling as he shows off his incredible skills on the pole at the Guildford venue

While Katie opted for a fish and chip supper for their guests, Alex suggested possibly hiring a kebab van. However, yet again, Katie's choice was the final decision.

The couple's invitations were suitably glamorous, showing a finger against a red hot pair of lips - 'to show that it's a secret wedding', according to Katie.

But Alex was less than impressed with the invites, continuously laughing at them before finally giving in and addressing some of them to his friends.

Buff: Alex showed off his muscly figure as he stripped to his pants for the pole-dancing routine

Impressive: Alex pulled some amazing moves out of the hat as he was watched by an audience including his stags

Score cards: The naughty nurses hold up placards bearing scores following Alex's amazing routine

There has been constant speculation about the state of Katie and Alex's marriage, and while it was clear Katie is the dominant partner in the relationship, Alex said they have learned to make it work.

He explained: 'Katie's a hard arse - she can keep going and going when we are arguing. But I know deep down that we really love each other.

'Sometimes you just need to have a cuddle and talk heart to heart, soul to soul, and it all gets sorted out.'

And some for you too: Katie giggles as a male stripper gets up close and personal during her hen do

Ready to go! Katie watches with anticipation as the strippers, who entered wearing long clothes, slowly strip

After a party to decide which cocktails would be best for the blessing celebration, it was time for Katie and Alex to choose their outfits for the wedding.

Alex decided to go to renowned tailor Terence Trout for his morning suit. But, after being measured for the outfit, Alex left wearing an off the peg suit to fool the ever-present paparazzi outside the store.

However, London wasn't good enough for Katie's dress hunt, so she decided to take herself, and mother Amy, over to Paris in a bid to find the perfect gown.

Preparing: Alex and Katie have a rehearsal for their wedding blessing in St Paul's Church in Woldingham

Kneeling: The pair kneel in front of the vicar as he goes through how the big day will pan out

After trying on several dresses, including a Swan Lake type gown which did little to flatter her figure, Katie finally settled on a full skirted dress which came complete with a diamond-encrusted corset-style bodice.

And seeing her little girl in her wedding dress, Amy couldn't help shed a tear before she was comforted by her not-so-subtle daughter who told her: 'Why are you crying, Mum? It's only a dress - what are you going to be like on the day?'

Upon her return to London, Katie was whisked away to an exclusive hen do at the Mayfair Hotel, organised by close friends Phil Turner, Gary Cockerill and Katie's close friend and bridesmaid Melody.

Invitations: Alex is unimpressed by the invitations, which had a picture of a finger and a pair of lips on the front

Addressing: Alex is mocked by Katie when he spells friend Donna's name as Donner on the invitation

The party was full of flowing champagne, and Katie was even treated to three male strippers, who came into the room wearing full-length black coats, and left wearing nothing.

But instead of letting herself go completely, mother-of-three Katie decided to take things slowly at the event, and stuck to orange juice instead of swigging champagne.

Explaning her decision, Katie said: 'I don't want to drink because I'm getting older and it takes me two days now to get over a hangover.'

Glamour puss: Katie's hair is seen teased into a huge beehive, accessorised with a veil and a tiara

Excited: A jubilant Alex Reid rushes into the church ahead of the ceremony

However, things weren't quite so sensible over at Alex's stag do.

Organised by his brother Rupert, Alex and his stags were treated to an afternoon of clay pigeon shooting before moving on to the Players Lounge casino and strip bar in Guildford.

As well as being served drinks by 'nurses' dressed in very provocative skimpy outfits, the stags were treated to the sight of their waitresses attempting to stay on a bucking bronco, before being given a full-on performance by several pole dancers.

Thrilled: Katie smiles broadly as she prepares to go to the church for the blessing

Transport: Katie's friends and family arrived at the church in this bus

But the party really started with stag Alex decided to try his luck on the pole.

Stripped to his pants, Alex nimbly made his way up to the top of the pole before showing off his best moves to an audience including his nurse friends - who gave him top marks for his show.

Katie also revealed during tonight's episode that she had her wedding ring from her first marriage to Peter Andre made into a diamond bangle enscribed with children Harvey, Junior and Princess's names.

She said: 'When I'm older, Princess will end up getting the bracelet made of the diamonds I married her dad in.

'I suppose when I look at it I think, "Oh, that's the wedding ring", but it's not the wedding ring now, it's the bangle.'

Recycling: Katie revealed on the show that she had her wedding ring from her marriage to Peter Andre made into a diamond bangle

Inheritance: Katie said she will give the bracelet, enscribed with her children's names, to Princess when she is older

The pair's decision to air their wedding blessing and honeymoon as part of a three-part special on ITV2 was criticised by many, but Katie and Alex defended their decision.

Katie said: 'It's going to be great sharing this fantastic day with my friends and family.

'I can't wait to celebrate our love for each other again.'

While Alex added: 'Katie and I are really looking forward to spending our special day with our family and close friends.

'Seeing her walk down the aisle again and being able to share it with the people we love will make this truly memorable.'

Friends and family: Katie and Alex's special day was attended by hundreds of their closest friends and family

The next episode of Katie & Alex: For Better, For Worse will be aired on ITV2 next Wednesday, and will show the couple's actual blessing day.

But things don't appear to go quite to plan, as Alex is seen saying Katie is an hour and ten minutes late arriving at the church in the teaser for next week's show.

'I know it looked irrational, but I was so unhappy': Why Hannah stunned Elle Macpherson by quitting Britain's Next Top Model

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adsBULKEv2Mendofvid
[starttext]
By Tamara Abraham

Not for her: Hannah, left, posing with Amelia in this week's lingerie shoot, quit Britain's Next Top Model last night in a dramatic finale

She was probably the most obvious beauty of the lot, but last night Hannah Goodeve was the first finalist to leave Britain's Next Top Model.

In a dramatic finale, the bubbly northerner stole the scene, announcing her decision to quit the show just as Elle Macpherson was about to announce the latest evictee.

The supermodel host, who had been revealing the name of each finalist by holding up their photograph, appeared confused as the 22-year-old interrupted her just as she was about to call the final name.

In a speech that shocked her fellow contestants, Hannah explained her reasons for abandoning her modelling dreams.

'I'm not sure what's on that card, but if it's me, I'd rather it be Delita,' she said.

'I've been thinking about this for a few days. I've not taken this lightly, but this isn't me.'

'I wish I could do it, because I'm sure out there they're all looking for a six-foot, leggy, big-boned model, but honest to God, I can't do it.'

Her decision to leave the show prompted fellow finalist Delita to burst into tears, but Hannah maintained her composure, leaving with a smile and a hug from Elle.

In an interview with MailOnline today, she explained how the things she had been asked to do just didn't make much sense to her.

'I know it looked irrational, but I was so unhappy.'

Behind-the-scenes footage (scroll down for an exclusive clip) also explained why the industry was such an odd fit for the girl who describes herself as a 'tomboy'.

'I'm not into my image,' she said. 'I've never really worn make up.

Picture perfect: Rachelle (left) and Charlotte (right) had a ball on the shoot, and both won praise from the judges

Split opinion: Nicola shed her mousy image for a playful shot - but Harleen, right, who is Sikh, felt degraded

'I didn't enjoy the photo shoot, I didn't enjoy the catwalk. I'm very aware that I should have been enjoying it, but I wasn't.

There's nothing wrong with the industry - but I wasn't willing to lose what I'm about. I was starting to doubt myself and I've never doubted myself before.

She added that she had decided to leave two days earlier, but producers had suggested she think it over - perhaps to make for a more dramatic end to the episode. But the fact that she had become close to Delita only cemented her decision.

'I just don't think it's fair to take somebody's place that wants it more than me,' she said.

It seems Elle wasn't in the loop though - after the cameras stopped rolling Hannah, 22, told how the host took her aside, asking why she hadn't voiced her worries.

'She took me aside afterwards saying: "Why didn't you say something earlier," because she had been through the same earlier in her career.'

'You don't expect her to be so nice because she looks so fabulous.'

She also revealed how, despite not wanting to know, or caring whose name was on the card, Elle had dropped it by accident, and all the girls gasped when they saw that she had been the 13th finalist.

But though her departure was dramatic, there has been clues throughout the show that she had been unhappy.

A lingerie shoot proved a challenge for the girls, not least Hannah, who, being slightly larger than the other girls, struggled with the flimsy designs from upmarket label Fred & Ginger.

Smouldering: Tiffany, left, was described as a 'Maltese sexpot' by judge Julien Macdonald, but Delita, right, struggled to take direction from the photographer

Promising: Susan's acting skills came into play, while judges praised Amba (right), who surprised in every shot

'It's not me,' she said in tears to her mother at the time. 'I feel ridiculous, but I can't do it. I feel exposed, I feel disgusting.'

She told us later that though she's never had any issues with her size 12, 6ft tall shape, 'you need to be really thick-skinned not to feel insecure around a bunch of of size sixes and eights.'

But Hannah wasn't the only one to have had difficulty with the shoot, which saw them work in pairs with a male model.

Amelia likened the experience to 'one big orgy'. She said: 'I felt that some shots were quite inappropriate, but that I had to do it because that's what I was expected to do.'

Harleen, who is Sikh, also had reservations, worrying constantly about what her mother and boyfriend would think.

'When we got onto set I was asked to take my kimono off, and it just made me feel really degraded,' she said. 'We just don't do things like that because I'm Sikh.'

But the judges has little sympathy for her situation. Stylist Grace Woodward said to her: 'If you want to get on in this industry, no matter the way you've been brought up, you have to do your job to the nth degree.

Ones to watch: Joy (centre) and Kirsty (right) were the first to strip off for the risqué shoot

Model behaviour: Judges were unconvinced by Olivia, but she and Alisha made for a strong team when paired together on their 'lady of the manor'-themed shoot

Guest judge, casting director Sarah Murray, echoed her sentiments: 'I think you just have to be professional about this and get on with it,' she said.

Delita also had a hard time, struggling with direction from the photographer - though the shoot did offer an opportunity for some girls to shine.

Charlotte, who disappointed last week, thrived in a pairing with Rachelle, who has become a good friend. Judges praised her posture, but questioned whether she could carry off a more serious look.

There were even more dramas with the other tasks - first a simple posing exercise with male model Charley Speed, then a catwalking masterclass with outspoken fashion designer Julien Macdonald and casting director Sarah Murray.

And Julien, true to form, was unabashed in his criticism of the girls, telling Harleen that she looked 'like she was coming out of a nightclub', and Alisha that she 'looked like a Curly Wurly' - though the one-liner was lost on the 18-year-old, who admitted that she hadn't heard of the candy bar.

But the catwalk task, which for some reason required the girls to wear clingy gold bodysuits, wasn't all bad - in fact Susan called it 'easy'.

'I always viewed catwalk as this sort of posey kind of vain thing,' she said.

'It was more just about being confident - but being normal, just walking normal. I didn't realise it was so easy actually.'

But it was Kirsty and Amelia who impressed the judges most, winning the chance to walk the catwalk later that day at London Fashion Weekend.

Susan and Nicola were invited as their guests, who were equally excited to have the chance to actually watch a fashion show.

It was up to Charley - a favourite with Hannah 'because he is so laid back' - to decide which of the girls were allowed to check out the models' house first.

The girls were asked to take it in turns to pose with props that included a banana, an umbrella and a bowler hat - though the lack of a camera confused a couple of them.

Several others mentioned how they were 'being editorial'. It's only week two - so one can only wonder if they even understand the words that they are using.

Charley then divided the girls into two groups, allowing the girls that had performed best to enter the models' house first.

The property, which looked like last year's X Factor house - a modern property complete with pool - had rooms that looked like glamorous dorms, and big photos of Elle Macpherson on the walls, lest they forget who their host is.

Hannah said the house 'felt like a show home - you almost don't want to touch anything.'

But for those that were hoping for some bitching and backstabbing, Hannah had little criticism of the other contestants, aside from the fact that many of them, at 18, felt much younger than her 22 years.

She said there was no-one she didn't like, and tipped Joy, Charlotte and Amelia as ones to watch for the title.

Elle is likely to have been disappointed by her shock exit - she explained in an interview with Tatler magazine this month how important personality and education were for aspiring models - something Hannah has in spades.

'Get an education,' she advised. 'It's much more interesting for girls to be educated and beautiful because there are a lot of simply pretty girls out there.

'The ones who get ahead are the ones who have a curiosity, a flexibility and a natural instinct with some cultural understanding, plus a willingness to learn.'

Hannah now plans to teach English in Vietnam, and is two months away from completing a course that will qualify her to do that.

While it's a loss to Elle and Britain's Next Top Model, it looks like many more will gain.

YoonA fits a large amount of jajangmyeon into her mouth on Family Outing 2

[starttext]
This week’s episode of Family Outing 2 took place at YangPyung, where the family feasted on some jajangmyeon – popular Korean dish of noodles with black bean sauce.

However, the family members had to pass through a test first before they could eat. They had to endure a painful 5 seconds or more of being pinched without screaming or showing signs of pain.

As 2PM’s Taecyeon pinched SNSD’s YoonA’s cheek, she unfortunately let out a scream before the 5 second mark. As a result, she was only given the opportunity to eat one-chopstick worth of jajangmyeon.

With the chopsticks, YoonA wrapped a large amount of jajangmyeon and further proved true to her nickname as ‘Big mouth YoonA’, which she earned during a previous Family Outing episode of her stuffing one-chopstick worth of ramen into her mouth.

Meanwhile, this was the last episode of Family Outing.

Nichkhun and Victoria’s first date stop is at a samgyupsal house

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yWhZhNc9Y4endofvid
[starttext]

After finally finding his on-screen wife after being confronted by 3 other ladies on last week’s episode, the first date stop of 2PM’s Nichkhun and f(x)’s Victoria was at none other than a samgyupsal restaurant.

In Korea, when one goes out to eat with friends, families, and significant others at meat (bulgogi, samgyupsal, etc) restaurants, washing down the meal with some liquor is a plus.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, Nichkhun initiated the drinking mood by asking Victoria:

N: “Is there a liquor beverage that you like? Soju or beer?”

V: “I like the — beverage. It’s a yellow liquor.”

Nichkun then searched and asked around for that specific beverage in the restaurant, sadly to find out that the restaurant ran out of those in stock. When he brought back a different beverage, Victoria disappointingly replied, “Then I won’t drink.”

Finally, Nichkhun prepared the yellow liquor that Victoria wanted, and started to tap his elbows against the bottom of the bottle, displaying his knowledge of Korean drinking manners. He explained, “I learned this from a friend,” and gulped the liquor in his cup with one-shot.

He also added, “I learned drinking initiatives from a friend,” and this friend happens to be 2AM’s Seulong, who seemed surprised at Nichkhun carrying out these actions that he taught him.

After enjoying their samgyupsal feast, the lovely couple headed to a karaoke where Victoria taught Nichkhun how to dance to NUABO, and Nichkhun serenaded Victoria with the sweet song, Nothing Better.

Kristen Stewart's appearance on U.S. chat show Lopez Tonight turned into a real family affair.

The 20-year-old, who was wearing a tight little black dress, blushed and responded: 'Yeah right. He's the one when I come home like this and says, '"You might want to be a little more normal'."

This is the first time Kristen has introduced her long-haired father to the world.
It comes a week after Robert Pattinson introduced his parents to fans on the Jay Leno show.

When host George Lopez later asked to show a hidden talent, Kristen displayed some juggling before being presented with 'Edward' and 'Jacob' pillows and a set of golf clubs.

Cheryl Cole adopts military mode for X Factor audition fashion battle with glittering guest judge Katy Perry

Simple but sexy: Cheryl Cole wears a khaki playsuit to The X Factor auditions in Dublin today

She likes to keep us guessing with her outfit choices for the X Factor auditions.
And today Cheryl Cole went for a relatively simple look in a low-key khaki playsuit, which she teamed with black Christian Louboutin heels and a black cinch belt.

The singer, who turns 27 on Wednesday, added extra glam with the help of some long gold earrings.

But then she knew she had to make an extra effort with Katy Perry as a guest judge on the panel.

Military style: She teamed the silk number with a pair of black Christian Louboutin heels and cinch belt

Katy, predictably, opted for all-out glamour in a pale blue sequinned number.

The 25-year-old American is the latest in a string of guest judges adding a bit of oomph to proceedings in the absence of Dannii Minogue, who is on maternity leave.

And the California Gurls singer was thrilled about the prospect about using her musical talents to help others, tweeting earlier today: 'X FACTOR DUBLIN!!! Can't wait to spot a star!!!'

Sparkling in sequins: Katy Perry shone in a shimmering blue dress

Cheryl and Katy were joined by fellow judges Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh as they hit the Irish capital, and Walsh, for one, was thrilled that the auditions were including Dublin.

He said: 'I really want the winner to come from Ireland this year. This is the seventh series and it's high time.

Big signing: Cheryl Cole gives her autograph to a fan outside the the Dublin Convention Centre

In the spotlight: Guest judge Katy Perry also paused to sign her name for fans

'The show hasn't been here since 2006. Simon said I better make it worth his while!'
Meanwhile, Kylie Minogue has revealed she would love to make a return to the judging panel.

New panel line-up: Katy and Cheryl pose with fellow judges Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh

Kylie joined sister Dannii in the judges houses' stage of the reality show last year, and proved a huge success as she helped her sibling put through acts including Stacey Solomon and Lucie Jones.

She told This Morning: 'Do you know, it was really much more personal than I thought it would be, with these girls in front of you with real emotion and so much riding on it.

'I found it really difficult. But if I could do the same with Dannii again this year, I definitely would.'
