Totally agree with you! This would be a fair deal. That how it should be done so let us do that. So when are going to implement this fair deal?
I think it would be fair to split the leftover numbers the same way they split whole year quota.
50% of leftover should be given to EB2 (based on PD) and 50% of leftover should be given to EB3. Does it sound fair?

Flower campaign, I said this one week back and did not do anything on that but was requesting others to join. I did send letters twice to 6 address and sending cards again today.
How do we organize this flower camaign or anything . Shouldnt a core member start the initiative by listing the action on the headlines.
I am sure people are waiting to see Oct bulletin. But based on information we have, please be assured nothing good can be seen, unless a miracle. Wait for the next bulletin may not be as pleasant in case you are looking for a job (No I am not). Lets all shoot emails to CORE IV now, to request them to start a campaign. I think from our end that shoudl be the 1st step. Unless they get the group together, we will be headless chicken as someone said, writing in doifferent threads,

At first, I thought my friend was just scaring me by suggesting the senator/congressman route, but seeing your case now I feel foolish as I should've been doing this in early January. I will check my status tomorrow (monday) with the Delhi consulate once more, and then, if need be (fingers crossed), will talk to my boss in Houston about your suggestions regarding congressman's letter. By the way, what if I call DOS tomorrow and they say the I've been cleared, would it still make sense to have congressman approach them? Too many questions, I know, but I guess you know this feeling. the first contact for the congressman's office is the relevant consulate. so it doesn't hurt. it is a simple process. your boss has to sign a confidentiality release document for you and attach a cover letter. to help your boss, identify the congressman, go to the congressman's website and find out where the forms are, write a draft cover letter etc . you can do this yourself i.e enquire as a constituent just in case you don't want to involve your boss. i think it may be better that it goes through your boss

I just wrote a letter detailing my frustrations and attached with it the documents. I don't think the call was anything big deal.....it was more a courtesy call an image improving call...we were not told anything that we didn't know already.....USCIS always raised more questions than answering them.......

Lets treat good news for EB2 as good news for EB3 also.
If not today, some of us EB3 folks may want to port. So it will help more people to port and also to compensate to some extent the #s coming into EB2 pool from EB3.
Overall its a good news, and looks to be possible we see this on Murthy site also. Lets be happy.

Yes true but passing of Vise arecapture bill is like waiting for 'Kumbhkaran' to wake up, they've been sleeping for 4-5 years what is the gurantee that they'll not sleep for another 5 years on the immigration bills ? Also, how is the spillover going to be distributed among EB3? First EB3 ROW and then EB3 C/I as in the old system?
Personally, I think the visa recapture bill would help things quite a bit.

Good question. The bill is expected to be on the floor of the Senate and House for debate in Feb-06. Learning from S1932, it is my guess that the soonest bill could be law is 2-3 months. So we may be looking at something like April/May-06. But nothing is for sure at this time. It is possible that the debate may be dragged on till third quarter of 2006. We should start the activity to communicate with the law makers right now and continue to convey the right message if we want anything good to come out of the new bill.
The delay with S-1932 was due to other controvertial issues. As for the immigration provisions, i doubt if any law maker insisted on them being part of the bill. Most of the bickering was about oil drilling and patriot act. This time Patriot act will compete for senate time if it is not resolved by feb. Once the immigration bill is introduced, it should not take more than 2 weeks get it to vote and another week for conference committee.
My Q was even if some law is passed will the uscis wait till oct to implement any proposed changes.
I was curious as to how this works because it might be tough for me to stick with my current company for 1 1/2 years more to get portability.
Ofcourse we will try our best but somethings r not in our hands.

Only option that person may have now is to change career altogether in the fields where desi consulting companies do not operate.
Job Zone 4 does not automatically translate to EB3. Even though the title maybe EB-3, if the requirements exceed normal requirements for jobs in Job Zone 4 then after a (successful) business necessity audit the candidate maybe able to file in EB2. After all I don't think DOL is that brain-dead (yet?) to say that somebody with 15 yrs exp is the same as somebody with 1 yr exp although they have the same job title (E.g. Software Engineer title at Google generally has more experience and education than a software engineer title at a desi consulting company even though both fall in job zone 4

For most IT people it is going to be very tough to get EB2 classification (especially if you are just out of school and have decided to apply for a green card). It is better for them to look out for research positions and apply under Computer Scientists as this will atleast enable them to apply under EB2. Is this a good thing: If you are non-IT yes, if you are IT no as it just convoluted the process even more.

I dont see any improvement at chennai.I contacted consulate after 7 working days (after interview) and got reply to allow another 4 work days.
Consulate has handed over the passport to VFS on Jan 2nd and VFS has dispatched on the same day.I would be receiving that today.

I do not have medical records to prove that I have taken some of the vaccination that is mandatory for the medical test. However, I do have taken those and my Doctor back in India has those records. Is there a way people know that these records in "any format" / a "specific format" can be faxed or fedexed here and can be used?
Any help will be highly apprciated.
