So How come all we hear from the core team is requests for contribution? There is no detail of any actions/efforts that are happening currently? It will certainly be more engaging for all members to at least know what efforts are being worked on currently? I think expectations need to work both ways otherwise you just have an autocratic organization that has to follow and do as the leaders choose to do. Just my 2 cents and all you frustrated folks please take a deep breath before jumping in.
These are blantantly baseless comments. Your comments indicate that your frustration with retrogression has clouded your judgement. IV is one organization that will be able to help you and you are unable to recognize that.
Have you even made a single contribution? Or just made demands to get updates?
Before you talk about autocracy, look up its meaning in a dictionary. Nobody has forced you to join IV. Nobody held a gun to your head and told you to come to this forum. You are doing this of your own free will. This is not a paid service organization; it is purely voluntary. Understood!!!!!!!!
IV core can choose to respond to you at their will......So, next time you start complaining, remember that nobody cares about what you think about IV. You can fart as much as you want on other forums against IV, but IV will not falter in its effort to get retrogression relief.

What if they start screening EAD or GC guys and decide applications on the fact that at one point of time one has not maintained this rule and start denying.
I dont think one would get any lead time to figure this out. if they(USCIS) decide to do so, Example is where the H1's were turned back at newark airport(Did they get any lead time. i dont think so)
So the better thing is to understand first what the exact implications of this memo are and act now peace fully. atleast call ,send emails or some thing similar .

I have seen so many in this forum spits on L1. This is really bad, we all belong to one family and one kind.
If some one thinks L1 is more advantagous why don't those people join TCS or some thing...
Well let me put some of the Disadv.
1. On L1 one canot change the job. If you want to change the employer you should have H1B
2. L1B salaries are 20% less than H1B on AVG
3. If employer want to send you back (For any silly stupid reason) you are gone
4. Most of the companies like TCS, INFOSYS, WIPRO won't file green cards for 99.99% people
5. On avg a L1 person stays in US in a trip for 1 - 2 years.
Now think!
And above all as I said all those L1 are living in this country legally like me and you, living a painful uncertain life. Because the time is bad now we can't blame them.
Some one talking about getting laid off with TCS employee. just recapture the 5 or 8 years back when you replaced a AMERICAN CITIZEN and you can't call people as idiots ... its street clear.
Well some of you may not agree with me, but if you want to respond harhly just visit any L1B guys house some how they are living.
Unite, Fight! Don't fall for same old british divide and rule tricks.

Is it correct to say only nebraska Service center is issuing the rfe because they are pre adjudicating while Texas service center is not issuing rfe because they are not pre adjudicating 485. A vast majority of people getting rfe on 485 (95% or more) are from nebraska Service center.

Stuck(no more)intheMuck,
Nice compilation, thanks for doing this for all of us here.
Just a note( i am not trying to deter anybody or argue against your compilation) that by law all foreigners are required to carry their passport, how many of us follow that, on that note, I will not carry original with me at all. just my 0.02 cents.
Thanks again.

Help me Gurus!
we had Infopass appt. IO said your case is pre-adjudicated and under Review. we ask how long will it take to review? He said - doesn't know. can we open SR? He suggested not good to open SR. Reason is they will give same reply - case is under review give us 3 to 6 months. USCIS always tell us to "Not to open SR for Under Review case". Let the petitioner to send latter to request the status directly by sending latter to,
INS Texas Service Center
PO Box 851488 - Dept A
Mesquite
TX 75185 - 1488
.
does any one have sent inquiry latter to this address? is it worthful to send latter there?
One thing is clear that if our app is in "Under Review", means we have to do something to trigger approval. otherwise it will be in Review forever. we had open SR last yeat september and got same reply in May this year. so SR doesn't work.
Please suggest me what step i should take.

Agree with macaca, It is not fair to expect a member to contribute the moment s/he joins.
Suggestion: IV membership should be free for the first 3 months, after which there should be a minimum $20/per month to keep your membership and log in.
Also at that time a member needs to update his/her profile to include contact information. This way we encourage new people to come study the issues, gain trust with IV and IV gets real people with real names that can be contacted if and when there is a need for mass-campaign.

I posted this msg on saturday and looking for some response from members.

Hello guys please let me know if i am eligible for filing WoM.
My case details are:
EB2, PD 02/12/2002.
I-485 RD: 06/06/2007 and ND: 06/15/2007
I have converted my EB3 PD to EB2. Last month i applied for EAD renewal thinking that it might trigger my GC approval(some people still believe in this)
Today i received my EAD with 2 yrs extension. I consider this as a bad sign because USCIS clearly states that if the visa is unavailable then they will issue 2 yr EAD.
In my case my PD has been current since i filed 485 except two months in this year when EB2 was U.
I have opened 3SRs(on march, april, june 08), went for infopass once, written letters to 3 senators and 2 representatives on july 7th, 2008, sent fax to NSC, also sent letters to NSC and NSC director twice, called NSC several times. I could not get any status update other than the regular response(case is pending and waiting to be assigned)
After taking all these efforts i recently received response for one of the SRs(for june 08) stating these type of cases taking time for approval and i need to wait patiently.
I dont know if i can wait anymore because i have been waiting for close to 7 yrs.
Now in this situation can you guys please let me know what i should do and what should be my next move?
Do you guys think i am eligible to file WoM? if yes please guide me on how to do it.
Thank you so much guys. Looking for some help.
Thanks

Mr chaanakya, You may find this as a personal attack! But it is not. This is an attack on your thought process!
You claim that you received a PHD. But I seriously doubt whether the university that decorated you with a PHD evaluated your ability to think rationally and ability to reason!
Normally with education people achieve wisdom, knowledge, ability for rational thinking, ability to reason, humility, compassion and a better understanding of the functioning of the world.
I am not saying you do not have the right to complain or right to protest. You have and you definitely should have. But the approach that you have taken is the wrong one! In your post you criticize about people lamenting their plight! In reality, you are also doing the same, Am I correct?
If you are a real PHD, just go through the following post that you presented and analyze how you can improve that to make it a product from a REAL PHD!
If such an educated guy like you can become an opportunist, how you can expect higher standards from lesser mortals!
In another post you said that you were eligible for EB1 and couldn't go through that rout, are you lamenting here? If you are well qualified, why didn't you go through that rout?
You said:
"You have all the opportunities that were/are available to a person who sweated it out in the university system here to gain more qualifications and get an EB2 job."
In the same token, Why you are not trying to achieve a suitable job at a suitable firm which will apply your GC in EB1? You have all the opportunities for that, right? Why can't you achieve a Nobel prize and obtain GC in a split second? Who is stopping you?
Just because, you did your masters and PHD from here, does that make you special? What about a guy who obtained Masters from G Britain? - Is he ineligible? Would you prefer special treatment over him? The point is, when you came here, you swore that you do not have any intention to immigrate, and you just have intentions to study and return to your home country - Try to remember, you did that in your F1 visa application form. So, my friend, nothing gives you a right to be here or to get GC. It is a privilege.
You need to understand one thing: Each person has different skills, living circumstances, responsibilities, and different type of blessing from the almighty. So, don't measure everyone with the same yard stick that you are using to measure and don't use your own selfmade standards.
If undocumented immigrants where also competing with you for a GC spot, you would have said, they also have the same opportunity here, why they are not taking masters and PHD to get their GCs sooner?
In reality, some are fortunate to reach your level, but not everyone! But that doesn't make them ineligible for the Pursuit of Happiness and Pursuit of a better life!
If you do have a real PHD, you should lead, you should be a role model for many and propel your energy in the positive direction instead of a stupid post like this! You can work to make things better in this country!
My point is, work hard and lead to improve the immigration related laws and procedures!
Last point I would like to mention: Dear friend, Just education alone will not make you a better person or a person with wisdom. Try to learn from life, lives of others, problems of others! I think, if you try, you can understand this better than me, because you have better education!
And please, don't speak for me: I am an EB2 Masters category guy.
Last message to all folks who express their feelings through red dots: Think before you act! Provide the real reason why you are giving a red dot. Don't just allow your emotions to control you.
Yes, that is right, I said “plight of EB2-India”.
I am a passive observer of these forums. But some of the ridiculous notions floating around here have motivated me to vent. First and foremost, the law as written is highly favorable to people in EB3 categories, even from India. Here is how...
Take my example (and there are thousands like myself)....came to the US 8 years ago, spent 5 years working day and night to earn a PhD on a low (barely sustainable) stipend, got FIRST job saw decent money for the first time 6 years after I came.
Now, compare this to a person working an EB3-job for the last 8 years. Not only does this person do a real job that hopefully provides a respectable income but this person also has the option of moving to EB2 after 5 years of experience. So, at the end of the day in 2008; this person comes out ahead of me in terms of money, in terms of priority date (if ported) and most likely in terms of GC.
There are complaints all over the forum which have the stink of pretentiousness such as “oh..i am a poor EB3 waiting for n number of years” etc etc. What you guys seem to forget is that YOU are NOT an EB3, it is your JOB that is EB3. You have all the opportunities that were/are available to a person who sweated it out in the university system here to gain more qualifications and get an EB2 job. You CHOSE not to. The general discussion seems to center around cribbing about the US immigration system (Immigration by the way is a privilege defined by laws, not a birthright) and then blaming the EB2 crowd when they finally see the system implement the law as intended in the first place (horizontal spillover rules).
All these posts that refer to “my career is over because my gc is delayed” are nothing but a pathetic excuse. Law of supply and demand....if you have a skillset that is valuable, you will be fine with or without GC anywhere in the world. It takes a bunch of documents to remain here legally, all you need is a passport to go back if the system here seems so bad.
For all the attacks that are bound to happen, here is the fodder.....this is probably my first and last post, I haven’t contributed a dime to IV, will work here as long as I like it and if not, India is a great country and provides enough opportunities for any skillset !!

How will it march steadily when we have less than 3000 numbers for the year?
I am sure we have many pplicants with PD in 2002 and 2003. I would be surprised if PD moves beyond April 2002 in FY 2009.
Assuming no other miracle happens!
Steady march!, not fast march!! ;) I am very hopeful of the dates moving past mid 2002 for FY 2009. (which is about 8 months movement from now, and I think that is very possible).
I am thinking we have about 5-6% representation for the earlier years on this poll? What is everyone's estimate on the representation??

pansworld,
Its not IV I am worried about ... I trust them completely.
Its the the big bad wolves out there :) .... they might use such info to their advantage ....(call me paranoid)
I believe, the best and safest way to disseminate such important information is through state chapters. I know what you are getting at when suggesting that we should be open about our needs and goals .... The strategic vision is pretty much laid out by the core and is clear enough for the general public (I think) ...
monetary needs... thats a different ball game ...
I agree that posting the monetary figures might not be a good idea. But we need to find a way to make everyone who visits the site part of the bigger picture. I see that happening if we have a Percentage Ticker on the site which shows how much of the target is met and how much is left.
