You very well know that GC comes when the time is ripe, so you should really enjoy your sweet time instead of lurking on these forums.

Well, I am just stating facts. Just because you dont like them, I cant help it. You got to learn to move on. There is a saying in my native tongue " A smart man should never climb the stairs of a court." My grandfather was a prosecutor and and used to tell this to me many times. But thats just me. We have learned that in all probability House Judiciary committee will finishing marking up HR5882 in the next committee meeting. The bill is likely to be brought to the House floor the following week. We have been told that if our bill(s) pass the House, Senate will include the language of the bill(s) in another Senate bill that has majority support. We must admit that the time is shot but its still possible.
We request everyone that starting monday, please call all the members of Judiciary committee. Thanks to the members who have already made phone calls to the lawmaker's office. We request you to please call again to show your support starting Monday.

I made a service req on sept 6 and they opened it on Sept 30 and assigned it to an officer. They enquired took detailsof my fedex , etc. and now they sent a letter. Just summary "wait wait wait still we need to key in " huh i think many of us will have same fate even after doing all this but i am not giving it up lets do something rather than nothing.

I have quick question about I-485 filing date. What will be the filing date, the day I mail the packet or the day they receive or the day they acknowledge the receipt.
I am asking this because I cannot file my I-485 before August 15th due to some personal reasons. So suppose I prepare everything beforehand and mail it on August 16th - will that be appropriate filing (assuming the dates remain current in August)?

They should have your info unless consulate hasn't sent it. they use your passport number as reference. so call again if they didn't use your passport number to search. in any case ping the consulate again.

Actually this time I asked my friend in US to call DOS, and he used the computerized answering system with my petition number and they did say that my H1-B petition has been approved. I don't know if I mispronounced/mistyped anything when I did it last week, but at least now I'm sure that it is on DOS' system. Thats the same thing I heard when I called KCC, that my petition was approved in April 2007. Or maybe I should've asked them if they've access to PIMS. It's frustrating man, I never thought at this stage of career, entry-level that is, I will be stalled by things like this. Well I hope in the end I can find a rational explanation to why things turned out the way they did.
For the new folks in the forum, its been 75 days and am still waiting for my H1 visa. I guess I should also talk to that Mexican Emabassy and see if my case shows up on the PIMS or not. The only problem with New Delhi embassy is that when I call them, all they say is that the case is still pending, and nothing else. I don't even know if I should curse them for being incompetent, or maybe that is all their job entails (I'm not being condescending here). Is it advisable for me to go to New Delhi personally? This is a mess, but as long as its in God's design, I'm ok with it. I just don't wanna feel later that if I had done this ... blah blah, then I could've expedited the whole stuff. That'd be a bummer. Well at least I need to be focussed and keep my head straight. That I can control, and thats what I'm taking solace in.

Will you guys stop this madness atleast now?. If US started bending rules for people who send flowers, then everyone will try to manipulate the system. Well suppose they reject your 485 for lack of Initial Evidence then you are in some trouble. The people who applied prior to new Memo was passed had there applications receipted even without EVL. What will happen after the Memo is passed ...can't say. I think EVL is considered Initial Evidence. Thats my guess.

I recently had to apply for a UK transit visa and the process went smooth as ever. I had to answer a lot of questions for both my wife and myself but after I have done that the process was easy. We just had to show up for finger printing just like for our 485s, send all the necessary documents to the correct address by (reliable) mail and just got emails that our visas have been approved. I have flown with BA before and their service is far better than any other airlines I have flown with before.

No disrespect to Al-Jazeera. But putting our story on that channel is not a good idea. People view anything on it with lot of suspicion, and Fox news interprets everybody Al-Jazeera sympathizes with as you know what.
Don't come after me for saying this, its not my opinion. But general opinion that I have observed from people who are not well informed(read majority of people). Lets focus on the main stream media in US, outside coverage is not that significant anyway.

I thought he might say something stupid about the Hindu Prayer disruption in Senate yesterday. However he didn't bring it up. A fisherman is selling two baskets full of crabs. One basket has a lid on it, the other doesn’t. An inquisitive buyer asks him why this is so. Concentrate on action items and work harder than ever, which can bring a great relief to entire EB community. It does not matter how many times we failed or succeeded, every attempt we are an inch closer to our ultimate (IV) goal.

If this goes through , the next step is to fight for review of all EB1 and EB2 applications thoroughly for misrepresentations in the job descriptions to make sure the job they do indeed requires masters degree and to make sure same job is not being done by a person with bachelor degree in the industry (Not just same company).
To make sure when they file for the GC they have the real INTENT to work for the company. working for SIX months is not intent. If all the issued green cards are canceled if they don't work for the company, we will have enough numbers for genuine candidates in all groups.
How about even extend this to citizenship ? I have some ideas in that area as well !!
I know a person (used to live in same street) who could not get in to med or engg college. Finishes BSc in life sciences.Stays in university hostel for 7-8 years preparing for job and finishes PHD in life sciences in the process(You know how they go ). Now filed for EB1 and worked for just six months in a university. Now runs an Indian Grocery. How a person running an Indian Grocery is more useful to this country to qualify for EB1 ? He does qualify , if he continues his research, as intended.
