yeah, and throw in free college tuition for your brothers and sisters:D

I'd be surprised if they agree to even ability to file 1-485....the anti-immigrationists/protectionists will fight tooth and nail on everything. They don't want you in the country...they want you to go back...they're against anything that will help immigrants stay here.
its pretty clear what they want

Well, I know for sure, that your prevailing wage for H1b is different for prevailing wage for GC. GC is for future employment and ur current wage won't affect your GC.
It depends on your employer, if your attorney comes back with a "wage" for the job, it is upto your employer to agree to pay that wage "after you get your GC". As GC is many years down the lane, you can convince your employer that wage has nothing to do with your wage now.
If your employer agrees to this condition go ahead with GC filing, say you earn 60K and GC pay is 85K, just go ahead and file GC.
Once your 140 is approved, you may consider change in employment with PD portability, or once you apply for 485 and it takes more than 180 days, you can switch using AC21 for a better pay.

Just out of curiosity, why "shred" photocopies, except maybe for better document management and not drowning in paper?
Is there some ramification towards citizenship?
Better documentation is the reason why I got rid of those photocopies (I had crate-loads of them piled up over time). I guess you can just throw this junk in your recycle bin too. But because these are immigration-related papers, and all sorts of shady ID thieves are snooping around these days, I permitted myself a little paranoia and shoved them down my office shredder.
Insane list ...I lost 50% of my head hair staying in US since last 10 yrs and now loose the rest doing the book keeping...no wonder stone age was fun ;-)
Thank your stars - I already lost almost all my hair over the last 10 years of stay here. This is the curse of progress - another million years later, if the human race survives guns and germs, our descendants would likewise wish they were back in our stone age :)

I think this is a valid point. We should request from USCIS to treat the employment base category same as other category. I am not sure that USCIS could fix this by themselves or they need any legislation.
This will be a big relief for us and will fix our 50% backlog.
Increasing GC numbers and/or not counting family members have been brought up in lawmaker meetings in the past. IV has been active and trying to get things done either administratively or legislatively. Look back at the letter writing campaign and consider some recent administrative fixes.
Need of the hour, call CHC members and your representatives.

I agree... The worst mess is between 2001-2003. I think most
of the 300,000K applications would be between these dates. When DOL adjudicated 180K applications, about half were already abandoned. If roughly half of the applications are approved, that would be 300K Visas including dependents.
An interim relief about 200K green cards will take care of problems tremendesly......But Schedule A is eating up unused visa's.
I feel like, it would be good idea to go for some recaptured visas at (least200K) than fighing for a whole immigration package.
This is a great point. Even if we get one time relief, that should suffice because retro might not happen in the future as there will not be 245si/195kH1bs. I hope one of the core group members might want to look at this. This will atleast counteract the exaggerated and bloated immigration numbers by the antiimmigrant groups.

I understand your frustration. Believe me I have gone thru the same.
When I filed for my I-485 in 2000, the PD was current for me for 23 months in row when it got approved. Can you believe this? PD was current for whole 23 months while I-485 was pending.
One of my goals is to help my future legal immigrants. Being a US citizen gives me vote voice and power. I am open to suggestions. I would like to help my fellow legal immigrants.
I know, the wait time is long, but it is worth it every bit.
Good Luck to everyone.
Hmmm so you have been a victim of random processing too? The situation is a mess no doubt. But this random processing really hits where it hurts the most...
IF ONLY everyone who gets a GC approval or citizenship could work at the CIS for a year... a sort of community service.... All of the problems wrt the random processing will go away...
I am sure most people on this board can hit the ground running and don't require extensive training... unlike the present day IOs.

Can you please explain little more about #2 ie. Open your own e-business and File E visa. What type of e-business to start? How to file E-VISA ? Have you filed yet ?
If anybody has any info on E VISA,please post here so that we can make use of it.
I appreciate your comments.
gimmi green - Don't you see green around you. Let me tell you how to get green
1) Use your credit history to purchase additional home in Florida. House purchase in 150000 will be 250000 in year. The market was like that a year back. It takes 8 months to get a house. There is a big line.
2) Open your own e-business. File E visa. 1/4 million should be easy money if you have stayed here for 10 years.
3) House listing in only done by realtor. Give option to customer. For fun open a site for people to list their house for sale. Give them free service then charge. Live American way.
4) Make school in Village. I have made one. I enjoy supporting the school. Grow India.
5) Don't worry about GC. Do something. Registering a site takes some $35 or 40. Built you site. Use American brain.
Am I doing it? Yes.. Did I make money? Yes.
Ensoy.

strategically , you dont want the other side to know this info ...
seriously ...
I agree ... if we come up with a serious pay as you go policy ... say even one cent per posting/reading from everyone... that way it will be fair ...
I do not intend to question IV and its members who are pretty diligent about things, are entirely trustworthy and neither have they given us any reason to think otherwise. IMHO the monthly thing does not work. Some people cannot afford monthly payments due to other commitments (some are less fortunate than others). They may opt for one time payments rather than monthly payments.
I think what we need is target oriented funding drives. For example:
What are the objectives for the lobbying effort this year and consequently how much money do we need for lobbying efforts? $100,000, $200,000 or $500,000
By putting collection targets up front we can direct our energies towards that target. I know that every cent counts and every dollar will be beneficial. But if we don't know and don't communicate what our target is we can never focus on the goal. A monetary target for a clear objective is something many people can relate to and a one time payment is more attractive than monthly payments.
Cheers

Understood. Now you want all H1 L1 B1 everything to be stopped. So lets vote only for EAD/AP/GC till you get your GC. After that US should stop GC also, right? (but ofcourse, naturalization still should remain open for a few more years).
If one person can work for your job at $8/hr, and you are charging $100/hr, market would adjust itself to $8/hr (for a moment forget about who does this $8/hr, it can be a high-school kid, or anybody). The only reason why somebody blames that $8/hr kid for loosing his job is because he "thinks" he is "superior" to that kid. There are many situations where companies decide to retain "fresh college grads" and layoff "senior experienced" persons, to save money.
Don't take me wrong, but I also think the L1 is mis-used a bit. But I personally think the mis-usage comes from other factors (like H1 unavailability, employer prefer L1 because employee cannot change to another employer in L1, other H1 restrictions) etc..
I would not say there is a lot of misuse. In any law there will be some level of misuse / abuse. Because of current economic situation, this is just hyped.
More, I think the angle to look at H1 / L1 misuse is wrong. If any misuse / abuse is happening, that is because of improper address to labor situation. If government believed that there is a shortage in labor market, they should allow a person to come on his own visa that is independant of employer. Let that person fill the labor shortage gap. Rather they made everything employer dependant, gave employers full change to misuse / abuse the H1 and L1 category and the real solution to the issue - work force is paying heavy price of idiotic visa policy.

Older 2 & 3 were very subjective and controversial so I suggest removing them
Our letter is not about CNN hiring H1s, and lets be practical CNN is likely not to fire Lou Dobb, especially if we insist.
================================================== ====
The Chairman, CEO Time Warner Inc and Senior Corporate Executives.
Dear Mr. Parsons,
We are deeply disturbed by the false comments aired on Mr. Lou Dobbs' show, on your CNN network July 9, 2007. On his show Mr. Dobbs interviewed Rep Tom Tancredo(R), Colorado who claimed that H1-B workers overstay their visas and do not go back home.
Quoting Mr. Tancredo from your show: "H1-B visa is for 5 years" and "700,000 H1-B workers overstaying their visas"
Even though Mr. Dobbs did not make the comments himself he aired them on his show. This makes both CNN and Lou Dobbs liable for these irresponsible and incorrect statements.
Let us straighten the facts here for you on H1-B visas.
1) H1-B visa is issued for a maximum of 6 years in increments of 3 years. It is not 5 years as claimed by Rep Tancredo on Lou Dobbs show. Further, once the first stage of Green card application is been pending for more than a year, H1-B can be extended indefinitely beyond six years.
2) H1-Bs pay all types of taxes (Social Security, Federal, State etc.) from day-1. In fact, more than a 100,000 H1-Bs, have been working, paying taxes in US for 5-10 years, without even being a permanent resident. The issue of tax has been misreported on Mr. Dobbs show on multiple times.
3) Fewer percentage of H1-B s have overstayed their visas than the percentage of senators who have been guilty of taking bribes, or the percentage of journalists who have misrepresented facts!
4) Medical doctors, Researchers, Engineers, Bio-technologists, CEOs, CFOs you name it, a lot of them are H1-B visa holders. They are in demand in all industries. The shortage of high-skilled workers has in fact led Microsoft to plan the setup of a research center in Vancouver. But, thats another topic, and is not the purpose of our letter here.
Over the years, many of us have held CNN in high esteem for its journalistic capabilities, and we would still like to think of it is as the Most Trusted name in news. However, this issue is turning out to be a huge disappointment for the highly skilled legal immigrant community. We hope that CNN recognizes these errors and rectifies in a visible manner. If no action is taken, we are likely to think that CNN misreports in matters which are not so well known to us.
Sincerely,
